Last week I wrote about outward-looking mission projects at WMC and how you can get involved. This week our focus turns inward: we had a meeting during the week of our pastoral care team which focuses on providing care for members of our congregation. This group is growing and there a number of different aspects to this work:

1. The Samaritans is a group who arrange meals during times of bereavement or illness as a practical support for families;
2. The pastoral flowers team make up small arrangements from Sunday's flowers and deliver them to members as a gesture of care and support;
3. Intercessory prayer teams pray weekly for those on the prayer list and others who have shared a need privately but don't want it publicised. Prayer team members are also available for prayer after services on Sundays.
4. The members of the care team come alongside individuals and families to visit or call regularly during times or seasons of need.
5. A new area being explored is less about crisis care and more about being friendly and welcoming - possibly a phone call on your birthday, or a follow-up call for new members. We're looking into how to make this happen.

If you'd like to be involved in one of our caring ministries, please contact the office or speak to the appropriate society steward: Louise Walker (pastoral care) or Sybil Scott-Adams (prayer). Also, please do let the office know if you are aware of pastoral needs.
