In 1961, Rev Arnold Walker, a Methodist minister based in Pietermaritzburg, wanted to help his congregation by encouraging them in the midst of the challenges of every day life. So, he began to produce a little booklet of daily devotions for them, with each day including a Bible passage, a prayer and a practical word for the day. Over 60 years later, Faith for Daily Living is read by some 150 000 people in 80 countries worldwide (visit https://ffdl.co.za to find out more).

That's a story to remind us not to be afraid to start something small! But wonderfully, despite the growth in readership, the organisation continues to take a real interest in ordinary individuals. I was privileged to join the trustees of the Faith for Daily Living Foundation for a morning of reflecting and strategic planning this week and I heard many stories of the lengths to which they will go to to make sure that booklets reach their readers.

We have copies of Faith for Daily Living at the back of the church and you're welcome to take one. If you don't yet have a daily practice of prayer and reading Scripture, maybe one of these little booklets will be just what you need to get going!
