Years ago, an important part of a minister’s work was to systematically work their way through the membership list, visiting every member in the church.
People are not as we seem – we are all dealing with stuff that is out of sight; and God is working in secret too – in the hidden parts of our lives, the Spirit of God is at work. May you be conscious of this God – the God who loves the whole you – as you go through this day.
Over the last month I’ve written about the four practices that we offer to our members at WMC to help us mature as disciples of Jesus – namely, to CONNECT in small groups, to SERVE faithfully, to GIVE generously and to WORSHIP regularly.
In the last couple of weeks I’ve written to you here about two of the four practices that WMC offers to our people as helpful pathways to deeper discipleship. The four practices are Connecting, Giving, Serving and Worshipping and we believe that intentionally making these a part of our lives will help us to mature as disciples of Jesus.

Our home group has been running in its present form for almost a year now. In that time, we have done some Bible Study together, and we have had numbers of spiritual conversations, but mostly, we have talked and laughed, drunk coffee and shared what is going on in our lives.
Our annual covenant services took place on Sunday (5th February). This special service, which has been a part of our practice as Methodists since 1755, is an opportunity to give ourselves to God again, and to hear God give himself to us.

I’m so encouraged by the success of the Knitwits – a group of ladies (men are welcome too!) who are meeting monthly at WMC for a morning of conversation and friendship over tea while working on their knitting, crochet and similar projects.
Right from the beginning of the Bible, the Scriptures use the language of covenant - the practice of God reaching out to an individual, a family or a nation and inviting them very intentionally into relationship.
