At our home group this week we talked about people who had nudged us closer to God over the years. For some it was family members who prayed with us or dragged us out of bed on Sunday mornings for Sunday School :) I have a vague memory of a woman who was my Sunday School teacher when I was 8 years old. I don't recall her name or even her face, but I remember clearly that she gave me my first Bible and encouraged me to read it every day.
For some of the group, these influential people are still members of this church. They were the ones to welcome us as newcomers, to greet us each week with a word of encouragement, or to invite us to be part of a small group. There will be people reading this who have no idea that their names came up in our conversation on Wednesday night! All of which is a reminder for us that we each have the potential to literally change the course of people's lives through the smallest gestures.
