For many months during the pandemic the Westville Churches Foodbank has operated from our property, and what a remarkable ministry it has been! Thousands of rands worth of food were distributed each week using a very well organised system for tracking individuals and their specific needs. It was especially encouraging during this time to hear from people who were able to report that they had managed to get back on their feet and no longer needed our help. Thank you so much for all of those who supported this project financially and to Ashley and her team for the incredible work done for the Foodbank.
The Foodbank’s season has now come to an end and the plan is to continue working together as churches but with a focus on empowerment projects (a hand-up rather than a hand-out). We’re hoping to have some initial ideas to share with you soon. In the meantime, David and Priscilla and their team of volunteers continue to offer an excellent meal to hungry visitors through the Westville Churches Soup kitchen, also hosted here at WMC.
