This last Thursday was the anniversary of an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in a Moravian community in Germany which launched a non-stop prayer meeting that would continue for one hundred years! If you know your Methodist history you may remember that this same Moravian community, under the leadership of Count Nicolaus von Zinzendorf had a profound formative influence on John Wesley and the Methodist movement.
Can you imagine what it must have been like to spend an hour or two in that prayer meeting? Inspired by the "Moravian Pentecost" (as it is sometimes called) the 24-7 prayer movement (which distributes the Lectio365 devotional app) is calling for a global week of continuous prayer between 6 and 13 September. So far, some 1100 prayer rooms have been registered around the world for this week. In Westville, Home Ground Church is hosting a prayer room and anyone is welcome to come and spend some time during that week in their room. Maybe put that in your diary and make a plan to be a part of this?
