Our pastoral caring team met this week. We spent time reflecting on the caring work that is happening at WMC: pastoral visits (please let the office know if you or someone else needs a visit or call), intercessory prayer (in the Staying Connected and after services), birthday calls, flower deliveries, bereavement care, home communion, meal support. Please contact the office if you'd like to be involved in any of these.
We also talked about how much of our caring work understandably focuses on helping when there is something wrong (eg: an illness) but we wondered what it would look like to help all our people feel cared for when there is no crisis (except for the challenges of everyday life!). To some extent this is happening through birthday calls (if we have your birthday in our database) and occasional flower deliveries (if we have your physical address in our database. We will be sending out emails / messages again soon to ensure that we have everyone's details). But even better is to help all our people connect with a small group - pastoral care happens best in the church when we belong to a group.
Finally, a new initiative: numbers of our people are battling to get to services because they're not able to drive or don't have access to transport. We'd love to be a bit more organised in arranging lifts for those needing them. Is there someone in our community who would be keen to co-ordinate something like this? Or others available to give lifts occasionally?
