Thank you to all who have continued to so generously respond to our appeal in support of vulnerable foreign nationals in our city over the last week - this has been a wonderful, practical expression of love and humanity. On Monday, our Superintendent Minister, Rev Nshimbi will be picking up and arranging distribution of what we have collected.
The other arm of our response to this crisis as a community has been prayer. You still have a chance to sign up this weekend for the 24 hour prayer vigil which begins on Sunday evening. When a mission or relief organisation asks for help, we often emphasise material help and then add (almost as an afterthought) "you can help in many ways, even by just praying". John Wesley would take issue with that phrase 'just praying' - he once said that "God does nothing but in answer to prayer". When we are feeling helpless, perhaps prayer is the greater gift? Please pray with us over the coming days.
