There has been a frenzy of activity here over the last few days: As I write this, last minute preparations are still on the go for Saturday morning's Christmas Market. Thank you so much to all who have pitched in and contributed in different ways - it's going to be a fantastic day and we hope to see you there!
Also, our children's church have been busy preparing for this week – on Sunday at 09h00 we will be treated to the play they have been practicing these last few weeks.
And because this Sunday is the first week of Advent, our flower team have been especially busy - the beautiful palm angels (you may remember them from last year) have survived a year in storage and are back up in the sanctuary. The advent wreath arrangement is in place and we are all set for this sacred season.
Our lectionary-based Advent sermon series is called "The weary world rejoices", a line you will recognise from the carol 'O Holy night'. Here is the full verse of the song - they are such hopeful words for a weary world, don't you think?
O Holy night! The stars are brightly shining It is the night of our dear Saviour's birth Long lay the world in sin and error pining 'Til He appears and the soul felt its worth A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn Fall on your knees; O hear the Angel voices! O night divine, O night when Christ was born
O night, O Holy night, O night divine!
