Last Sunday was our annual covenant service and, although we may think of this service mostly in terms of our recommitting ourselves to God, we were reminded that grace always come first. It is God who takes the initiative and comes to us first, seeking relationship, long before we take any steps towards God. In a few weeks, we will be entering the season of Lent and returning to the lectionary readings for our services. For the next two Sundays however, we will stay with the idea of covenant, specifically looking at practical ways that we live out what it means to be the covenant people of God. We’ll spend some time exploring the practices and habits that shape us as God’s people.
The six week period of Lent begins this year on 2 March with our Ash Wednesday service and it will be wonderful if as many as possible of our WMC community are able to be fully involved in all that we have planned for this holiest of seasons. All are welcome to join us for our Lent course (on Wednesdays – mornings or evenings from 9 March) and, of course, for our daily Holy Week services (11-17 April). Finally, a reminder that we are restarting our 07h30 service and our children's church on the first Sunday of Lent (6 March).
