We have an active Children’s Ministries at WMC. We do our very best to be Kids for the King – doing everything for Jesus, our King!
We mostly meet on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings. Friday’s focus is on fun, fellowship and enjoying each other’s company, while Sunday is when we receive some teaching about Bible Stories or Bible truths.
It is in the best interest of all to try to be at the Church on Fridays AND Sundays!
We also get together during the holidays either for a day of activities or for Holiday Club, which runs for
about a week. A highlight of the year is always the camp that we go on.
We would love for you to join us and see what we get up to!

Westville Methodist Church runs a voluntary internship program where any member/s of the congregation can give a year of their life to the Lord. It is for any suitable young person on the completion of school, post matric or some other college/varsity qualification that feels strongly inclined to give a year of service to the church.
The intern program will enable them, through service, to gain experience in teamwork, extend leadership abilities, develop life skills, expand their faith and theological knowledge and understanding, and to generally contribute to the Church and community in various ways. Interns usually have a specific focus or passion around which all of their ministries are based (for example: dance ministries, music ministries, sports ministries, etc), and are expected to approach the congregation for financial support throughout the year. They are encouraged to get fully involved in all aspects of church life and be willing to “get their hands dirty” as they serve.
Previous interns at WMC:
| 2002 | Alistair Anquetil: worship ministries, as well as leading the confirmation course and a bible study at that time. Alistair was also very involved in the Westville Youth Fraternal. |
| 2004 | Warren Bailey: worship, admin and design ministries. |
| 2005 | Lyle Wetherston: Focused on the young adults, evangelism and mission ministries. |
| 2005 | Justin Jones: Focused on worship/music and children’s ministries. |
| 2006 | Sarah Dean: Focused on youth and children’s ministries, as well as worship/music and outreach ministries. |
| 2007 | Alyssa Karagornas: Focused on dance and children’s ministries. |
| 2007 | Sandra Berndt: Focused on pastoral care for the elderly, worship/music ministries and pre-Crossroads Bible study. |
| 2009 | Caryn Green: Focused on under-privileged children’s ministries. |
Our motto: To know Christ and to make Him known
The goals of the Women’s Auxiliary include the extension of the Kingdom of God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, by:
- Building up and spiritually revitalising women in Societies.
- Engaging in and encouraging evangelical outreach.
- Being part of the ministry and mission of the Church.

- Encouraging involvement in District and Connexional joint projects.
Affirmation:
We, the members of the Methodist Women’s Auxiliary, accept Christ as our personal Saviour and Lord.
We promise to support the work of our Church and to be faithful in prayer, the study of Scripture and attending worship.
We will endeavour to lead Christ-like lives and with God’s help we will strive to extend His Kingdom on earth by promoting love and understanding among all people.

The Youth and Young Adults ministries at Westville Methodist Church are quite diverse in age and in activities.
Friday Nights
The Youth ministry centres mainly on a Friday evening session, and this is where the youth of our church gather together for a time of fellowship, learning and worshiping God.
Crossroads
Along with this Friday night ministry, we have a discipleship course known as Crossroads, after which many young people choose to be confirmed. (Please note that this is not a prerequisite for confirmation). Crossroads is a course that includes teachings on Moral Decision Making, the Trinity, Fruits and Gifts of the Spirit, and many others. The Crossroads course is run by a team of dedicated leaders, drawn mainly from the young adults, and also includes fun activities such as camps and the like.
Youth Bible Study
This Bible study is aimed at those who are in High School, i.e. grade 8 -12. It is lead on Wednesday evenings from 18:00 until 19:30. and its covers topics that deal with the spiritual growth of High School kids. It is highly recommended to be part of a bible study in order to grow relationships and to deepen ones knowledge of the Bible and Christianity. All are welcome that are in high school.
How can I get involved?
We have a host of different bible study groups that meet, designed at meeting the needs of different age groups as well as personality types. The bible study groups that exist at present include the following:
- 2 Young Adults bible studies (this includes varsity students as well as working young people)
- Firmer Ground (a bible study aimed at giving grade 8 and 9 teenagers a firm foundation in faith and their relationship with God)
- a post-Crossroads bible study (this caters for the teens who have completed the discipleship course known as Crossroads)
Other than this, the Youth and Young Adults ministries also include time for fellowship and fun, with many socials planned throughout the year. We are also involved in local outreaches, working alongside the Social Concerns Committee, getting involved where we are able. Outreach, care of those around us, is something that is encouraged amongst our young people.

(Fridays, 16:15-17:15) is for those in Grade 1-3. We usually play a few games and have a short message.
(Fridays, 17:30 – 19:00) is for those in Grade 4-7. We play lots of games and hear a message that is linked to our theme for the evening.
(Fridays, 19:15 – 20:30) is for the grade 6 & 7’s. It is during this time that we learn more about God and look to the Scriptures for answers & guidance.
(Sundays, 09:00-10:00) is for pre-schoolers all the way to grade 7s! This is when learning more about God and Bible Stories is our main focus.
